Mrs Hughes, Mrs Davies and Mrs Walsh would like to welcome you to Year 3!

Autumn Term

The children in Year Three will be developing their language skills this term through a study of stories and poems about families.

In Science this term the children will be looking at Materials.  As part of this work they will be finding out all about solids, liquids and gases and how materials can be mixed and separated.

This term’s topic is entitled ‘Dyma Fi!’.  As part of this topic, the children will look at various aspects of their own life as well as Journeys of Life linked to Religious Education.  Pupils will also learn how to express personal information in Welsh. Our History topic this term will be looking at the life of ‘The Iron Age Celts’.

This term the children will be participating in Guided Reading sessions where they will be listened to reading, taught specific reading skills and supported by the class teacher.  The children will also be heard reading by a Parent Helper or Classroom Support Worker and will bring a reading book home from the school scheme.  Please ensure that your child completes their weekend reading homework, by reading only the pages stated on the reading card, and that their book is returned to school on a Monday.

All pupils will participate in a spelling lesson on a weekly basis and will be provided with a list of words to take home and learn and these will be tested during the following week.

During P.E. lessons this term, pupils will be developing their hockey and rugby skills.  Swimming lessons will also take place every Tuesday at Elfed High School up until shortly before the Christmas holiday.
