The children in Year Three will be developing their language skills this term through a study of traditional fairy tales and Welsh myths and legends..
In Science this term the children will be looking at Forces. As part of this work they will be finding out about sinking & floating, friction, air resistance and gravity.
This term’s topic is entitled ‘Cymru’. As part of this topic, the children will look at places of Pilgrimage and St David linked to Religious Education. Pupils will also learn how to describe other people and tell their news in Welsh. Our History topic this term will be finishing off looking at the life of ‘The Iron Age Celts’ and then looking at the 'Romans.
This term the children will be participating in Guided Reading sessions where they will be listened to reading, taught specific reading skills and supported by the class teacher. The children will also be heard reading by a Parent Helper or Classroom Support Worker and will bring a reading book home from the school scheme. Please ensure that your child completes their weekend reading homework, by reading only the pages stated on the reading card, and that their book is returned to school on a Monday.
All pupils will participate in a spelling lesson on a weekly basis and will be provided with a list of words to take home and learn and these will be tested during the following week.
During P.E. lessons this term, pupils will be taking part in Gymnastics and Country Dancing.
Reading books - come home on a Friday - to be returned Monday
Homework - comes home on a Friday - to be returned on a Monday (Tuesday at the latest).
Spelling books - come home on a Monday - to be returned the following Monday for a weekly spelling test.
