Welcome to the Class 10 web page!!!
Welcome to the Summer Term (even though Spring weather hasn't even arrived yet!).
For our main topic this term we will be reading ‘James and the Giant Peach’ by the splendiforous author Roald Dahl. Much of the work in English this term will be based on the novel which we are all looking forward to getting our teeth into!
Science this term will be connected to our class novel as we will be studying various habitats around school. We will be finding out which mini-beasts are native to Buckley, as well as looking at a range of animals which live in habitats in other parts of the world.
Art and ICT this term will also be linked to ‘James and the Giant Peach’ and the topic of ‘mini-beasts’. In Art we will be designing and modelling a ‘Fantasy Animal’, following which our animal will be starring in a comic strip produced using the ‘Comic Life’ software.
In Design and Technology we will be completing our study of the Tudors by creating stage sets inspired by the plays of William Shakespeare and filming short scenes using stop motion animation. Also in ICT this term we will be developing our computational skills using a range of control software, as well as producing 'green screen' presentations in preparation for an inter-school celebration in June. We should all be digital wizards by July!
Finally we will have the opportunity to visit Pentrellyncymer Outdoor Education Centre between 30th April and 2nd May. It looks like being an exciting term!
It's Sports Week at Mountain Lane. We've done workshops with guests, a 'daily mile' run and all 5 days of Joe Wicks' online School Workouts!
Back to work after the half term holiday! Peer-evaluating gymnastic performances in class before improving them during the next PE lesson.
Where are we going? Into space of course! We had a great visit to Elfed High School to spend time in Techniquest's inflatable planetarium.
A Christmas message from Class 10. Nadolig Llawen!!!
Our Jesse Tree has 27 decorations on it representing various Bible stories leading up to the birth of Jesus. We made one decoration each and added them to the tree throughout Advent.
We recently led a Key Stage 2 assembly in the hall, where we presented lots of poems we had written this term about Autumn and the wind. It was a great success!
Here is a link to all 28 wind GIFs that we created using the 'Stop Motion' animation App. They have been put together as a single video. We hope you like them!
