Croeso i'r tudalen Dosbarth 10!
Welcome to the Class 10 page!
Tymor yr Hydref / Autumn Term
We are excited to welcome you back to school at the start of this term. We are looking forward to getting to know you all and have lots of exciting things planned.
We will start the year with a topic called 'Fy Milltir Sgwar' - Where I belong (Literal translation: My Square mile). This will include thinking and learning about our local area - past and present, identifying problems and ways to look after our local environment. We will carry out a variety of writing tasks linked to this topic. We are hopeful that we will be able to take part in a number of local visits (as long as restrictions allow), including a visit to the Redrow Nature Reserve, taking a walk along the heritage trail and a visit to Buckley Museum. As part of the topic we will also explore the idea of belonging.
A polite reminder that children are all asked to ensure that any snacks they have during morning break are healthy snacks, preferably fruit. We have been counting the number of pieces of fruit being brought in for snack and our best is 22 so far (23 if you include mine), which is fantastic, considering a few children don't have a snack at all. Let's carry on as we've started Dosbarth 10 - bendigedig!
PE lessons are on Mondays and /or Wednesdays. Children will need to attend school in their Mountain Lane PE kit on these days. Remember this should include jogging bottoms in case of colder weather, as all PE sessions will take place outdoors.
PLEASE NOTE: NO PE on Monday 20.09.21 as it is school photograph day and I'm sure you want the children looking smart in their uniforms with their smiling faces!
If children wear earrings, please ensure that they are removed or taped up on these days.
Year 4 are timetabled for the forest on Tuesday mornings. You will be informed when these sessions will take place. On these days the children should come in to school dressed in suitable, warm clothing and waterproof coat. They should also bring a change of footwear e.g. wellies / walking boots.
Homework and reading
Discussions are currently being held regarding homework. There will be more details to follow as and when decisions have been made.
This year, children in Year 4 will bring a reading book home on a weekly basis. During the first few weeks, children's reading will be re-assessed and a suitable book will be issued accordingly. These will be distributed by the start of October.
Children may also receive spelling homework: learning spelling lists of patterns / rules or completing sheets to help support them in this learning.
