Croeso i'r tudalen Dosbarth 10!!! Welcome to the Class 10 page!!!
Tymor yr Hydref / Autumn Term
This term in year 4 we will be covering two different topics. During the first half term our topic will be ‘Fy milltir sgwâr’ ( My square mile). We will be focusing on the local area and creating a sense of belonging. We will be studying Buckley though different areas of learning. We will also be going on some trips locally (dates below) and will be involved in helping the Buckley historical society develop a Buckley Heritage app. If you have any stories/photographs/information about the history of Buckley we would be grateful if you would share your knowledge with us and/or the children.
The second half of the term will be ‘Golau a Tywyll’ (translates as – Light and dark). This will primarily be a science based topic with literacy and numeracy links.
Tuesday 17th September - Buckley Heritage Trail
Wednesday 25th September - Redrow Nature Reserve - Guided Walk
Wednesday 2nd October - Buckley Library / Museum Visit
Tuesday 8th October - Forest Session
PE lessons are on Mondays and Wednesdays. Children will require outdoor kit: Mountain Lane t-shirt (new green style or the old black ones if they still fit), black shorts /skort and trainers. A spare pair of socks is also advisable as some of these sessions will take place on the grass. As the colder weather appears, they may also wear tracksuit bottoms and a school jumper / black hoody/sweatshirt. If children wear earrings, a note is required if you give them permission to wear these during PE lessons -please ensure that tape is provided, to cover them up.
Homework and reading
At the beginning of each half term every child in Year 4 will be given a sheet detailing a variety of possible homework tasks. We would like each child to complete some of the activities at home. These can be brought into school at any point during the half term where they will be shared with the rest of the class. We would be grateful if you could assist your child completing the tasks by the completion date.
This year, children in Year 4 will bring a reading book home on a weekly basis. We will be sending these home on a Friday and ask that they be returned on the following Monday as we will endeavour to listen to your child reading within class on a regular basis.
In year 4 the children in both classes will be mixed for spellings. They will all bring a spelling list home on a Monday in preparation for a spelling test which will take place during the following week.
